Miss ACS 2009's Journey Yet |
When Ashleigh Cloete entered Miss Afro Carribbean Society she did not anticipate that her winning would make her one of the busiest beauty queens in the UK. She won the pageant with her famous 'we may be bruised but will never be broken' phrase little did she know that her winning meant she got Sponsorship from the Miss Malaika UK Group and that meant her going to represent her country at a very prestigious international arena Miss Intercontinental in Belarus. It meant she took over the reigns from sensational Miss Cynthia Muvirimi who represented her country on the same ticket in Bahamas in 2006 when she came second in Miss Malaika UK.
Although Ashleigh did not win the prestigious title she was 22nd in the group of 56 but it is her passion, drive and enthusiasm that is making her stand out as a cut above the rest. Despite being a full time student at Solent university in Southampton Ashleigh has been busy wearing so many hearts -she is the Ambassador of the Zimbabwe Teachers Network, she is working with Mumba Children's centre spearheading the Children's Rights Club focussing on the girl child and she will be visiting Zambia in july together with current Miss Malaika UK, where she is one the organisers of the Fundraising dinner dance at Intercontinental in Lusaka.
Ashleigh is making the most of her reign as on tuesday the 16th of december she held a penalty shoot out with the year 8's at her former High school The Upper Shirley HighSchool in Southampton where every student that participated paid fifty pence(.50p) and raised £120.00, also donated were television sets, plenty of stationery and alot more is due to be collected as shoe boxes were left at the shool for more donations. All donated items will be forwarded to the Lemba Children's Worldwide Foundation in the rural area outside Bulawayo for the under priviledged. It was the passion that the children at this school showed that Ashleigh's previous week's presentation to them about the plight of the under priviledged children in Zambia touched them and were willing to help in any way possible. The head of Physical Education Mr Pete Hadfield organised this penalty shoot out upon Ashleigh contacting the school and sharing the plight of the under priviledged Ashleigh owes the success of the project to him and indeed the entire management, staff and students of Upper Shirley High School. Trophies were presented to the Top four scorers two boys for the penalty football shoot out and 2 girls for the netball goal scoring by Miss Ashleigh Cloete.
As part of Ashleigh's fundraising please purchase her 2010 calender which is on sale now.
